Following on from all those LPs was a number of 10″ releases, including the most expensive RSD14 release (I think).
No.1: Ray Parker Jr – Ghostbusters:
One of the fastest selling items in the majority of shops from what I understand, and already commanding a resale cost of exceeding £35 on eBay (original price minus eBay flippers tax, £9.99) is the ‘Glow in the Dark’ Ghostbusters track by Ray Parker Jr, from the Ghostbusters OST. Not normally one to buy novelty pieces related to 80’s pop classics, but as a huge Ghostbusters fan – I couldn’t resist. Limited to 1,000

No. 2: Soundgarden – Superunknown: The Singles:
With No.1 being one of the most popular, No.2 on my list is the most expensive. Weighing in at £87.99 is the Soundgarden boxset that contains the reissues of the singles from the Superunknown era. There is nothing in this set that justifies the steep price tag, and if it wasn’t for my absolute love of this album and the music from around that time – I’d probably have passed on this release. Does look nice though with the new Josh Graham artwork. Limited to 3,500

The Day I Tried To Live (up close):

No. 3: London Grammar – Hey Now (Bonobo/ Zero 7 Mixes):
One of last years hottest bands, London Grammar, aren’t shy of letting their tracks get remixed – and the majority of them are pretty awesome. These two are no exception and the vinyl itself is equally as impressive! Limited to 2,000
No. 4: Dan Croll – Hello My Baby (feat. Ladysmith Black Mambazo):
One of the later announced releases, and one that I found out about from the man himself at a recent Resident in-store. A US only release on “gold” (translucent orange) vinyl – recorded in Africa with LBM a few weeks back. Very catchy indeed. Limited to 1,000
No. 5: Garbage – Girls Talk:
Another one of those releases where you only buy it because you all the bands other stuff. This release contains the track, Girls Talk which features Brody Dalle (The Distillers) on vocals with Shirley Manson. Limited to 4,000
So another night, and another update from the enormous RSD13 haul.
First up is the nice UK/US Biffy Clyro releases of “Modern Magic Formula”and “Black Chandelier” on clear splattered vinyl
Then it’s time for two of the RCA Victor branded signed releases for Kodaline and Dry The River (I am missing the Everything Everything release – boo)
Then on to some 12″ singles from Dutch Uncles, The Joy Formidable, the Grouplove/ Frightened Rabbit split that features the Manchester Orchestra and then the two Jamie xx edits of The xx’s Sunset and Reconsider (presented in a normal die cut xx white sleeve but with a metallic looking wrap around inner sleeve)
Then, it’s the turn of the Recover EP from CHVRCHES on orange translucent vinyl – it’s so nice I took a photo of it being spun
Now for the last item of this update – and the newest in the entire haul – only being picked up on Monday night – the Soundgarden King Animal Demos EP – unfortunately not on pink vinyl like the US fans, but instead on boring black
What’s better than receiving that boxset that you have been waiting for since mid 2012. Two different boxsets that you have pre-ordered arriving on the same day 😀
That is was has happened today
I hereby welcome Biffy Clyro and Soundgarden’s latest offerings into my collection.
So what’s in the box….
Pretty standard contents here I’m afraid (let’s not worry about the price).
Both the vinyl (2x180gram audiophile) and CD edition of the album – with a bonus DVD.
Also, thrown in is the obligatory “art cards” and 12″ version of the CD inlay.
Now, if it is one thing we already know (following the highly impressive Only Revolutions boxset) – and that is that Biffy put the effort into their special editions, and the haven’t let us down.
Nicely packed in this set you get..
Both the Vinyl (2x180gram audiophile, individually stored in the own sleeves) and the double CD/DVD versions of the album are in here together with…
– Guitar tab for the album
– Lyric book for the album
– Piece of art and film clipping from the album sleeve shoot – I got a leaf, not sure if it is the same for everyone.
Right, I’m off for listen.
