Dry the River – Gethsemane 7″

As requested by Discogs user sonoftheriver here are some photos of the Dry the River “Gethsemane” seven inch released on Transgressive in 2014 (TRANS184).

It was (as far as I am aware) the last physical release that the band made, and the only 7″ released from their second and final album, “Alarms in the Heart”

  Side B: Everlasting Light

For those regular readers (albeit I have been about for the last year) – this band is awesome and I highly recommend you spend some time getting to know them.

Great Escape 2014 – The Provisional List

So, another year means another Great Escape festival in Brighton. As each year passes, the number of bands increase, the number of venues with new names increase and most importantly, my militaristically performed analysis project becomes harder to fit in.

At the last count, I have managed to listen to more than 250 of the artists playing the Great Escape, and Alternative Escape events – and most importantly found a few real gems.

Special mentions to my top ten must sees:
BRNS // Etches // A Plastic Rose // Amber Run // The Darlingtons // JAWS // Lonely the Brave // Andy Shauf // Blaenavon // Dry The River (okay, not that new a band ;p)

..and also to two of my favourite bands that have just been added to the Alternative Escape:
Esben and the Witch // Escapists

So, with just one day until the festival kicks off, here is my provisional list of targets/ times and places so that if any of my buddies get misplaced – they will know where to go.

RecordStoreDay 2013 Update 2

So another night, and another update from the enormous RSD13 haul.

First up is the nice UK/US Biffy Clyro releases of “Modern Magic Formula”and “Black Chandelier” on clear splattered vinyl

Then it’s time for two of the RCA Victor branded signed releases for Kodaline and Dry The River (I am missing the Everything Everything release – boo)

Then on to some 12″ singles from Dutch Uncles, The Joy Formidable, the Grouplove/ Frightened Rabbit split that features the Manchester Orchestra and then the two Jamie xx edits of The xx’s Sunset and Reconsider (presented in a normal die cut xx white sleeve but with a metallic looking wrap around inner sleeve)

Then, it’s the turn of the Recover EP from CHVRCHES on orange translucent vinyl – it’s so nice I took a photo of it being spun

Now for the last item of this update – and the newest in the entire haul – only being picked up on Monday night – the Soundgarden King Animal Demos EP – unfortunately not on pink vinyl like the US fans, but instead on boring black
