RecordStoreDay 2013 Update 4
Time for another RSD13 update.
Starting off with a couple of 12″s, first up being part 1 of the Deftones Live Selections From series – Adrenaline:
Next up, the Team Ghost – Terre Brûlée EP on cherry red vinyl:
Next, Built to Spill’s 2×12″ Live reissue:
Next up, Chapel Club’s super colourful 12″ picture disc sampler for the forthcoming new LP (picture is the same both sides):
Then, finally for the 12″s, is the Pulp X Soulwax single
Lastly, for this update at least, a selection of 7″s from Frank Turner (brown vinyl), Dog Is Dead, Glasvegas (white vinyl) [picture one] and The Twilight Sad, Moby/Mark Lanegan, Foals and Everything Everything (signed) [picture two]
New vinyl so good, I’ve cancelled tonight’s RSD update
Arrived home from work to find a package on the doorstep – thank god it didn’t rain today!!
So, I opened it – not expecting it to be my latest eBay purchase from America – but it was, and what’s more, it is soooo awesome that I am gonna take a break from my nightly RSD updates to give it it’s own post – and the biggest picture I can
So, for those unfamiliar with the record, this is the Hot Topic repress of Finch’s debut album “What it is to burn” on 2x aqua-blue marbled vinyl (and probably some of the best marbling I have seen on a record).
Not only does it look amazing – it absolutely matches it in terms of content. I love this album.
No update tomorrow as I am off to the IMAX for Iron Man 3
RecordStoreDay 2013 Update 2
So another night, and another update from the enormous RSD13 haul.
First up is the nice UK/US Biffy Clyro releases of “Modern Magic Formula”and “Black Chandelier” on clear splattered vinyl
Then it’s time for two of the RCA Victor branded signed releases for Kodaline and Dry The River (I am missing the Everything Everything release – boo)
Then on to some 12″ singles from Dutch Uncles, The Joy Formidable, the Grouplove/ Frightened Rabbit split that features the Manchester Orchestra and then the two Jamie xx edits of The xx’s Sunset and Reconsider (presented in a normal die cut xx white sleeve but with a metallic looking wrap around inner sleeve)
Then, it’s the turn of the Recover EP from CHVRCHES on orange translucent vinyl – it’s so nice I took a photo of it being spun
Now for the last item of this update – and the newest in the entire haul – only being picked up on Monday night – the Soundgarden King Animal Demos EP – unfortunately not on pink vinyl like the US fans, but instead on boring black
RecordStoreDay 2013 Update 1
So, here is the first of many RSD13 updates as I go through my impressive haul.
Up first are two of the most important releases (in my opinion) of the day. The items that were first on my list, the Blind Melon and Mad Season reissues. Both are truly amazing debut albums and both are now expanded from the original release.
The Blind Melon one, complete with the Sipping Time sessions
Next up Mad Season with additional tracks:
Now for a couple of other LPs, with the Funeral For A Friend (on nice white vinyl) and Linkin Park (with One Step Closer 10″) debut albums:
Next up, the Placebo B3 EP on clear vinyl with special RSD note to the buyer:
Whilst on the subject of 10″, next up is the Mark Lanegan and Duke Garwood single, Cold Molly. The sleeve is a bit boring, so here is the record on my 1210 instead:
The last, but not least. And strictly not an official RSD release is the Tom Odell covers 12″ – signed by the man instore at Resident Music in Brighton just before their RSD raffle:
And speaking of the raffle, I won a prize, a Esben & The Witch, handmade, limited to 150, tour poster -:
Stayed tuned for more updates over the next few days as I go through the remaining piles of RSD stuff
New vinyl 14-Apr-2013
With only 6 days left until RecordStoreDay 2013 – what better way to celebrate than to buy some vinyl from my favourite independent record store (Resident, Brighton).
First up, the two Haim 10″s in pink and cream vinyl:
Next up is the new singles from The Strokes and Everything Everything and the repress of Sigur Ros’ classic Agaetic Byrjun, repressed on black heavyweight vinyl:
Last but not least the double a-side single from unsigned Bristol band, The Naturals – released on Howling Owl Records:
Last Night on Earth Records
Next up is a handful of records all off of the Last Night on Earth record label. The first great thing about this record label (other than the tunes themselves) is the artwork on the 12″ sleeves – which in my opinion make this record label instantly collectable.
Looking at the vinyl, the nicest one of the three is the Hot Chip – Flutes (Sasha Remix) – on single sides white heavyweight vinyl.
